Dave Walker

Dave Walker was born in 1967 and has spent his life in New Castle, DE. Dave discovered the classic rock legends of the 70’s at the age of six, fell in love with the drums, and began playing immediately. He studied the styles of drummers from his favorite bands including Led Zeppelin, White Snake, Bad Company and Black Sabbath, and taught himself to play like his hero’s. In the early nineties Dave had the privilege of being a part of several drum clinics and performances in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Moe Potts, drummer for Mott The Hoople took an interest in Dave and gave him invaluable advice and training as Dave performed with him during a series of shows in Pennsylvania in 1992. In 1994 Dave had the pleasure of playing drums for a show with Vivian Campbell in Wilmington, DE. Vivian is an 80’s and 90’s guitar legend who has performed with the likes of Ronnie James Dio and currently is with Def Leppard.

In 1996 Dave was approached by singer songwriter Mark Gandy and asked to take a pick up gig with Mark’s then band “Dixie Highway”. Dave did the gig and following the show was approached by Mark and asked to join the band permanently. Dave had his first exposure to performing country music, and history was made. Mark and Dave have been an inseparable pair, and great friends every since. Together they have learned much about the music business, friendship and life.

In 2004 Dave was given his first opportunity to work in a professional studio with Mark and the new “Whiskey River Band” writing and recording Mark’s “Honky Tonk Hero” album. Dave performed all the percussion work on the album, and performed in two music videos in support of the album. Following the release of the album Dave found himself performing with the band as the opening act for Southern Rock legends “The Outlaws” on the second leg of their 30 year reunion tour. He had the opportunity to participate in the Gandy Kmart meet and greet tour as well, meeting adults and children alike all across the eastern United States, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River and from Pittsburgh, PA to Jacksonville, FL. As a result of the commercial success of the album, Dave’s drumming has been heard all over the world. Dave states that the past 10 years performing with Mark, as well as the last few years performing with the current band, have been truly great and he looks forward to writing, recording and producing more great albums in the future, as well as performing many, many more memorable shows for our fans!
